To Steve,
As a very proud Australian, I would like to take this moment to say farewell to a true Aussie Legend. Those who knew you, Steve, knew you were not a man to sit back and let life pass him by. You were a whirlwind of energy and action, full of humour, and not afraid to be exactly who you were. There are so few people in the world who seek to live life to its fullest extent. You did that...and then some.
To the Steve Irwin fans around the globe,
As an Aussie, I am proud to know that one of us here touched your lives so deeply, and helped show the beauty of the world in all its forms. Some, perhaps most, of you will never have the opportunity to visit this amazing land that I call home, and I am pleased that Steve was able to show you, to bring the beauty, the wonder, and yes, even the danger, of the great Down Under into your lives, to give you a glimpse into one of the most gorgeous and free countries on this great world of ours. I thank you all for loving a true Australian legend....a hero for the environment, and a great Aussie character.
Dear Terri, Bindi, and Bob, (Steve's wife and children),
In a moment as profoundly sad as the passing of a life, a reflection on the gifts that life gave us is often the only refuge. Our time here is forever finite, and as such, should be measured not by its length, but by it's quality alone. Steve was a great man, a kind caring, and giving man, as I am sure you know, better than any of the rest of the world. Though your years together may seem like a flicker now that the candle has been doused, always remember how brightly they burned, and let that memory keep you warm.
Be at peace, my dear friends. I am sure Steve would have wanted it so. As long as he is within our hearts, he will never be forgotten...
